    IP-500 Workspace

    The platform IP-500 Desktop can generally operate safely without a safety cover. Nevertheless, there are reasons for one, as for example the protection of the users from integrated UV light sources or the need to extract solvent vapors in dispensing machines.

    The IP-500 workspace provides a robust base for the reliable operation of the platform. All the important control panels are accessible outside the frame.

    IC Cell Family

    The IC-Cell Family has been developed for high quality, safe and reliable manufacturing processes. A robust base paired with a massive machine baseplate provides the basis for highly precise and dynamic applications with our IP-Robot Platforms and the Infotech Component Matrix.

    The cells are cleanroom compatible and provide all-around ESD-protection. They can be used as a single cell as well as in a line, connected through a SMEMA interface.

    The access to the workspace from the front side is provided through a roll-up door. A control panel consisting of a screen, keyboard, touch-panel and status light represents the user interface. If needed, additional peripherals such as deadman switch, barcode scanner, etc. can be made available, too.

  • Flex Zelle

    FC Cell Family

    Infotech also offers the possibility to build a manufacturing process into a Flex Cell. This is used when single cells in a complete manufacturing line, need to adapt their visual appearance to the one of the other stations in the line. Furthermore, the Flex Cell is preferably used for spe-cial-machines and prototype systems with fewer demands on aesthetics.

    The cell dimensions are adaptable and allow the use of multiple process stations within the same cell. Typical flex cell widths include 1200 mm, 1600 mm and 1800 mm.

    The various robot platforms and all modules out of the Infotech Component Matrix can be installed in a Flex Cell without any loss in quality.

  • Plattform

    Platform IP-500 Desktop

    The IP-500 Desktop is a fully automated manufacturing platform for laboratory applications, process development or production of small batches. It is also often used as an entry level platform into automation. Thanks to the open design, the IP-500 Desktop is very flexible. Maintenance-free linear axes with speed control allow highly precise assembly and dispensing processes in a safe working environment.

    The IP-500 Desktop can be equipped with the proven modules of the Infotech Component Matrix and optimized according to the specific application.

    As an entry-level model into the automation of manufacturing-processes, the IP-500 Desktop saves the user high investment costs and allows a fast market entry of new products, thanks to identical programming as the manufacturing equipment.

    The gross travel range is 400 mm x 400 mm.
  • Plattform IP-500

    Platform IP-500

    The IP-500 platform is best suited for precise automation processes with limited production volumes. Thanks to linear axes, the portal is practically maintenance-free and allows the user the execution of highly precise assembly and dispensing processes without high investment costs.

    As an extension of the desktop model, the IP-500 is installed in a cell. Therefore, the portal can be safely used with higher speeds. Additionally, it can be extended with feeding systems such as conveyors, vibratory feeders or stackers for pallets and trays.

    The gross travel range is 400 mm x 400 mm.

  • Plattform IP-100

    Platform IP-100

    The smallest representative of the IP-Family is preferred for processes which demand only a small travel range. Equipped with linear axes, the IP-100 is used as a feeder to the larger main-portals IP-520 or IP-620, respectively. For sorting processes, parts handling or for simple assembly processes, the IP-100 provides reliable results with the usual high precision while taking only a minimum amount of space.

    Built in an Infotech Cell, up to six IP-100 portals can be run autonomously.

    The gross travel range varies from 93 mm x 440 mm to 148 mm x 680 mm.

  • Plattform IP-520

    Platform IP-520

    The IP-520 is considered as the "mother" of all the Infotech portals. In the Y-direction, it is equipped with two parallel working linear axes, which allows highly precise processes at high speed.

    The basic portal can be equipped with a variety of modules from the proven Infotech Component Matrix. The focus is on assembly processes, dispensing processes and both processes in combination.

    Usually the IP-520 is built in a stable Infotech Cell and is offered as a compact solution for a specific task. However, a manufacturing process based on the IP-520 can also be integrated in an existing production line of a customer or integrator and interlinked with the up and downstream process steps.

    The gross travel range varies from 210 mm x 400 mm to 540 mm x 400 mm.

  • Plattform IP-620

    Platform IP-620

    For applications with large assemblies or wafers, Infotech is offering the IP-620 platform. This platform is equipped with two parallel working linear axes, which provides highly precise processes at high speed.

    The IP-620 can be equipped with all of the modules of the proven Infotech Component Matrix. The platform is designed for applications in power module production, where both picking from wafer and placing in large oven carriers is essential. With its dimensions, the IP-620 fits in an IC-1200 cell or an equivalent housing provided by the customer or integrator.

    The gross travel range varies from 210 mm x 540 mm to 540 mm x 620 mm.

    Pick&Place - Die Bonding

    Classical assembly tasks such as die bonding as well as special solutions which are not available off the shelf are possible on Infotech machines. The modules of the Infotech Component Matrix stand out mainly because of the high precision, flexibility and reliability. The necessary head modules can be combined as required by the application, e.g. camera, assembly heads, ultrasonic and thermobonding heads and dispensing units.

    Pick&Place - Sensor Production

    In sensor production, assembly often also means placing multiple parts on different levels on each other. In addition, a dispensing process is typically required either before or after assembly. For this purpose, the Component Matrix includes all the necessary modules to ensure reliable and precise assembly processes.

    All the head modules can be moved vertically on autonomously working Z-axes. Besides the precision in X and Y, the angular resolution often plays a central role. Assembly heads with backlash-free gears and high-resolution encoders allow an extremely high placement accuracy.

    Pick&Place - SMT

    Various machines cover the classical Surface Mount Technology. The Component Matrix allows assembly processes that go far beyond the standard. For example, parts can be placed on the substrate based on their structure or aligned relatively to already placed parts. These are typically transmitter-receiver lines in high-frequency modules, photonic products and many more.

    Additionally, the solutions from Infotech offer the combination of SMT, die bonding and dispense techniques in one single machine, for prototype construction, batch production or rework tasks.

    Pick&Place - Tools

    For the handling of parts, normally vacuum nozzles are used. With a broad variety of standard nozzles but also the use of part specific tools, all assembly tasks can be realized. For the handling of exotic or extremely sensitive parts, there is also the possibility of using vacuum driven grippers. Let yourself be inspired by the creativity of our engineers.

    All tools are changed and calibrated automatically.

    Pick&Place - Flexibility

    The interaction between different assembly heads, axis systems and vision systems allows us to solve even the most complex assembly tasks without involving special machine engineering. This flexibility is very central to the user/customer because even difficult tasks can be solved with low financial and timing risks.

    The modules of the Infotech Component Matrix can be adapted according to the application requirements and optimized to the process without affecting the basic functions.

    Dispensing - Time/Pressure

    The time/pressure dispensing procedure is probably the most popular and easiest one. For many dispensing applications, it is also the most flexible and most cost-efficient dispensing technology.

    Infotech has integrated the pressure controller into the machine and placed the valve close to the cartridge so that the timing of the dispensing application can be controlled and synchronized with the axis movements of the robot. Thus, line speeds set in the program are always stable, independently from the shape of the dispensing pattern.

    The user interface, developed in the house of Infotech, supports the easy learning of new dispensing patterns, weight or drop diameter depending on parameter adjustments and many more user functions for highly professional dispensing.

    Dispensing - Jetting

    The jet dispensing procedure is steadily becoming more popular in manufacturing. Its contactless dispensing technique is very flexible and can be used for a wide range of adhesives.

    Infotech itself builds no valves. However, we offer all the necessary machine modules for automated cleaning and calibration as well as vision supported process control and surveillance. Jet-dispensing combined with automated dispensing calibration and vision lends itself to be reliably integrated into an automated manufacturing process on a high quality level, regardless of the selected type of valve.

    Dispensing - Stamping/Dipping

    Another dispensing procedure is "Pin Transfer" which involves the direct immersion of parts in a bed of adhesive. The layer thickness of the adhesive, flux or the soldering paste can be flexibly adjusted and monitored. This procedure is best suited for the fast application of adhesive or if especially small dots of adhesive have to be applied.

    According to the task, a linear or a rotary fluxer can be used.

    Dispensing - volumetric

    The precision screw dispenser allows highly precise dispensing, especially for high viscous dispensing media or media with fillers. A wide variety of different screw geometries are available to find an appropriate solution for every dispensing task. For many applications, the possibility of synchronizing the dispensing parameters with the axis motion of the portal provides an enormous advantage.

    Thanks to the lean design, the screw dispenser can be easily combined with assembly heads or additional dispensing axes.

    Dispensing - Standard Processes

    With the wide range of dispensing peripherals, not only niche applications can be realized but also standard dispensing processes such as dam and fill, glob top, underfill or conformal coating. Whether as a single process or in combination with assembly or joining tasks, the pos-sibilities are unlimited.

    A wide range of accurately controlled heating systems (nozzle, needle and substrate heatings) supports reliable and repeatable dispensing processes.

    Feeding - Palettes

    In many applications, assemblies and workpieces are provided in palettes and trays. Infotech has developed and produced loading and unloading systems for all possible formats of pallets such as 2" or 4" Waffle Trays, JEDEC Trays and many others. The palettes can be destacked on a conveyor as well as moved directly from a stack to a centering station.

    The handling of palettes is extremely smooth and shock-free, which guarantees the best possible protection of the content from damage and loss.

    Feeding - Preforms

    In flux free joining processes, solder preforms are used instead of solder paste. The preforms are fed to the machine on reel and cut directly to the right length before being picked and placed. This saves an additional work step, where the cut pieces have to be transposed in trays beforehand.

    The preform feeder can be changed without opening the machine door. It is prepared on an external setup station with new material for its next use.

    It is possible to feed and cut preform tapes with a width of 2 mm up to 26 mm. The cutting accuracy typically is below 70 µm @ 3σ.

    Feeding - Blister Trays

    Bulky parts such as watchcases or plastic injection moulding pieces are fed to the machine in stackable blister trays via the stack tray feeder. The unit contains two stacks, one to destack the full blister trays/palettes and one to restack the empty ones.

    The order can be changed, depending on whether the feeder is used to load or unload parts. The handling of blister trays is absolutely smooth and shock-free, which guarantees the best possible protection of the content from damage and loss.

    We adapt our feeder to the desired format, size and orientation of the blister tray.

    Feeding - Bulk Good

    For small parts, that come in bulk packaging we offer various vibrating systems, typically piezo powered, intelligent bulk good feeders which treat the parts very carefully. Vibratory movements are only executed when no valid parts are available. The feeding of bulk good is always supported by an integrated vision system which is able to check the availability and the correct position of parts. In the same step, the vision system can perform a quality inspection.

    In comparison to the common feeder bowls, the combination feeder – camera – assembly head is very flexible and well suited for nearly all small parts with all possible designs.

    Feeding - Large Formats

    Large format workpiece carriers are often used in connection with manufacturing lines which also include ovens. To avoid repacking assemblies from the common small carrier formats into the large oven carriers, the oven carriers can be handled on Infotech machines. They can be loaded to or unloaded from stack as well as passed through the machine with a conveyor.

    Feeding - Exotic Formats

    For odd-shaped, exotic trays or carrier formats for which there is no standard feeding system available, we offer customer specific solutions. This enables for example, preheating on the way to the process station or exposure with UV light on the ouput conveyor after adhesive dispensing processes.

    Special loading and unloading units, built as add-on devices are also part of our offering.

    Feeding - Wafer

    As a special type of feeding for semiconductor and microelectronic applications, Infotech offers multiple variants of the wafer handling system. The wafer with sawn dies mounted on adhesive foil is fed to the machine on a fully-automated or semi-automated basis. The wafer is located, aligned in rotation and if needed stretched. Different frame types such as Disco, K&S or ER expansion rings up to 12 Inches are supported.

    The dies are normally ejected from the adhesive foil by an appropriate tool as well as picked and placed by one or multiple assembly heads. This ejection unit can be optionally equipped with a pepper pot changing system. By default, dies with an edge length above 0.2 mm can be reliably fed and picked.

    Head Modules - Vision Systems

    There is always a camera unit mounted on the robot head, in addition to assembly heads, dispensing axes and other head peripherals. On the one hand, it is used for the location of substrates, workpieces, fiducial marks, etc. On the other hand, with this camera, automated calibration routines, postbond inspections or other process surveillance tasks are executed.

    The underlying vision software is completely embedded in the graphical user interface of the machine control and offers a versatile and flexible tool library.

    Different adjustable illumination parameters ensure that any structure is identified reliably. Vision processes with their assigned models are always a part of a manufacturing program and do not have to be called up separately. The vision system is therefore an indispensable part of all processes which are realized on Infotech machines.

    Head Modules - Efficieny

    Infotech machines are not only working very precisely but also fast. The head configuration is always adapted to the performance requirements so that the utilization can be maximized based on the available floor space.

    On the robot head, up to six assembly heads or three dispensing axes can be configured in addition to the head camera. Each unit works autonomously so that multiple parts or different dispensing media can be handled in parallel on the same machine.

    Head Modules - Compactness

    Floor space costs money! Especially in clean rooms where spatial conditions are tight and expensive. We build our robot heads with the highest possible compactness. Multiple process requirements such as assembling, dispensing, measuring, curing etc. can be mounted together, saving space without losing functionality or reliability. The compactness allows us to provide a complete production process on fewer machines than it would be possible with standard equipment.

    Dispensing heads have a minimal grid of 20 mm depending on the used dispensing technique. Assembly heads with a grid of only 17 mm are even more compact.

    Table Modules - General

    Table peripherals are all the machine modules which are not moved within the working space such as the fluxer shown in the picture. All table modules are application specifically arranged in the travel range of the robot head so that the available space is optimally exploited.

    Other table peripherals include up looking camera and height measurement systems, calibration and cleaning units, conveyors and shuttles, loading/unloading units, substrate holders and many more.

    Table Modules - Complexity

    On the one hand, fast processes require short travel distances and, on the other hand, the possibility to realize multiple process steps in the smallest space possible is required. Our table modules are not only very reliable but are also extremely compact.

    All motorized table modules are driven by a real-time control over closed loops.

    Therefore, manufacturing processes can be strongly parallelized and unnecessary idle times can be avoided.

    Table Modules - 3D-Processes

    The degrees of freedom of our table peripherals is not limited to the two-dimensional space. On the contrary, work pieces such as 3D-MID assemblies can be turned in any position to be dispensed or assembled. 3D processes also include the random turning, flipping and rotating of workpieces to apply an adhesive bead all around.

    Table Modules - Leveling

    In many applications in microelectronic and semiconductor technology, it is essential that parts are absolutely plane-parallel to the substrate. Among our table peripherals, you will find a variety of modules, which automatically align the head layer plane-parallel to the substrate layer. Typical applications are the Eutectic bonding of VCSEL diodes on their submount or in general, the assembly of large semiconductor chips such as image sensors in their package.

    Table Modules - Autonomy

    To increase the autonomy of our machines, many of our table peripherals have been developed for cleaning, calibration, process control or for an automated tool change (example in the photo). The Infotech Component Matrix supports the philosophy that a machine operator is not allowed to have any influence on the process quality. This means, the process relevant functions have to be automated and self-controlled for a period, which is as long as possible.
